Skywalkers take down Odash for spring season basketball grand final win
The Skywalkers have emerged victorious from the Broome Basketball Association’s spring season competition, stealing the premiership out from under Odash in a ferociously close final clash down at the BRAC basketball courts on December 14.
It was a hard fought battle for both teams with it being anyone’s game right down to the final buzzer as the top spot on the scoreboard was traded back and forth between the two sides.
But it was the Skywalkers who gained the lead in the final seconds, launching a final attack on Odash’s defence to make the final score of the match to secure the win by just five points, 39 to 34.
Kevin McKenzie was the top shooter for the Skywalkers, coming away from the match with 11 points.
Then the Vipers defeated the Misfits to claim the social men’s Grand Final win in another close and fiery premiership match, 36 to 29.
Michael Haji Ali was the top scorer for the Misfits scoring 15 points over the course of the match while Cj Oakley scored the most for the Vipers, shooting 14 points.
The Greenback Beaches dominated the Broome Blitzers in the social women’s Grand Final clash with the Greenback Beaches winning by an impressive 33 point margin, 36 to 3.
Sandie-Lee Ozies scored all of the Broome Blitzers three points while Olivia Ward was the top scorer for the Greenback Beaches, shooting eight points.
