Shire of Broome’s Conti Foreshore redevelopment receives Statewide recognition with Your Move award

The Conti Foreshore pathway redevelopment has become the latest Shire of Broome project to receive Statewide recognition after taking out the regional Your Move 2022 award. The award recognised the redevelopment for making the jetty-to-jetty trail and public art installations along the trail more accessible, and was organised by the Department of Transport. Shire of Broome president Harold Tracey said the award recognised the hard work of the Shire’s engineering and operations team, as well as local contractors who were involved in the project. “In recent years the Shire has invested significant time and money to revitalise our main precincts — Town Beach and Chinatown,” he said. “This year we completed the final stage of the shared cycle and walking path, which is the final, accesible link for people of all abilities between the two precincts and takes in a range of destinations. The path will soon have 27 solar lights installed along previously unlit sections, ensuring safe community passage at night time. The award adds to several prestigious titles already awarded to the Town Beach and Chinatown precincts, including the Coastal Design Award at the 2022 WA Coastal Excellence Awards — the Town Beach precincts fifth award.
