Shark advice warning issued for Gantheaume Point after whale carcass discovered

Authorities have issued a shark advice warning for Gantheaume Point after Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development officers discovered a entangled whale carcass 11km off the coast this afternoon.
Officers discovered the carcass at around 12.17pm and are warning it could attract sharks to the area.
DPIRD are urging beach goers to exercise additional caution and to adhere to beach closures advised by Local Government Rangers, Parks and Wildlife Service officers or Surf Life Saving WA.
DPIRD officers along with staff from other agencies are monitoring the situation and providing advice to relevant authorities.
Shark sightings can be reported to t to Water Police on 9442 8600.
