Flying between Broome and Derby return in a single day is now possible after Aviair added another flight to the route.

Taking off on February 28 the flight — the fourth to be added — allows Broome and Derby residents to fly between the Kimberley towns at a cost of $119 one-way.

It comes after the route first launched in August 2021 when the State Government entered into a deed of agreement with Aviair to provide the new service, following a public tender process.

The flight schedule has also been reshuffled to provide a better spread of flights throughout the week.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the additional flight would provide more options and flexibility for residents.

“Following community stakeholder feedback, we are trialling an additional fourth service on the route that will provide more options and flexibility for residents,” she said.

“The additional same-day flight means Derby residents can spend the day in Broome for business or appointments and return without having to spend the night in Broome.”

Kimberley MLA Divina D’Anna said the new affordable and accessible flights would give more choice and opportunities to Kimberley residents.

“The direct Broome to Derby flight is already making it easier for residents to see family, get to important appointments or take up opportunities afforded to the rest of the State.”

The Government-subsidised Derby to Broome air service was launched last August and will fly for 12 months with a review of the service occurring later this year.
