SAFE Broome raises a whopping $17,000 in Cause For Paws silent auction

Broome’s largest volunteer-based animal rescue and rehoming service raised a whopping $17,000 at their annual fundraiser last weekend during the Matso’s Brewery Street Festival. Saving Animals From Euthanasia Broome hosted their Cause for Paws fundraiser, with local artwork, animal accessories, vouchers and jewellery up for grabs during their silent auction. SAFE volunteer Abby Murray said there was currently 111 animals in foster care in Broome and the stall at Matso’s was a good opportunity to get exposure and chat to people about potentially fostering. “Because we’re in such a transient area, a lot of people can’t actually keep a pet here long term but they can foster,” she said. “So it might be just a day, two days or a couple of weeks so you get all the fun of a puppy or kitten without the long-term commitment. “I’d like to thank Matso’s, Broome Gallery, Allure South Sea Pearls and Broome Staircase Designs for sponsoring us.”
