Two Australian comedians will begin a drive west in June to bring their contrasting stand-up styles to a host of North West watering holes.

Darwin’s Amy Hetherington, described as “high energy with a tad of too-much-information”, and Adelaide’s Kel Balnaves, a “punchy and no-nonsense” act, are embarking on an eight-gig tour spanning from Humpty Doo to Coral Bay from May 30-June 12.

The duo’s first WA performance will take place in Kununurra on June 4 before a long drive to Coral Bay and back up along the coast to Broome.

Hetherington, pictured right, a self-confessed COVID baby mum, admits this may be her last big trip before settling into motherhood.

“I have always loved a trend, and now I am part of an Australian baby boom,” she said.

“I am really excited for this tour — I guess it is the last big adventure before I have this baby.

“Lucky for me, Kel was happy to come along and do all the heavy lifting.”

Both comedians have won best weekly comedy gongs at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, and Balnaves has as an Adelaide comedian of the year title under his belt too. Balnaves, pictured left, who regularly performs on cruise ships, said he was keen to get back on the road after his plans “got smashed” last year.

“One of the good things out of it is it has made us rethink where to tour and how to go about it,” he said. “This regional road trip has come from that re-framing and we’re looking forward to hitting the road.”

Between them, Hetherington and Balnaves have supported the likes of Fiona O’Loughlin, Dave Hughes, Glenn Robbins and MTV Jackass’ Steve-O.
