FC Meatworks have cemented their status as an early front-runner after handing the Pearlers their first loss of the 2018 BLiga season.

From the outset, FC Meatworks were looking to score early but good defensive pressure from the Pearlers, including a number of good saves from goalkeeper Craig Davey prevented any early shots.

However, FC Meatworks would eventually break through to score the first goal.

Pearlers attempted to step it up in defence to prevent FC Meatworks from building a lead but goals from Cheyne Cream and Alex Igboedie resulted in FC Meatworks holding a 3-0 lead at half-time.

Pearlers looked to make up for their three-point deficit but FC Meatworks were quick to shut them down.

FC Meatworks were able to weave the ball through the cracks of Pearlers’ defences as they continued to score through Rodrigo Zavala and Giovanni Coroeuini.

When the final whistle blew, it was FC Meatworks ahead 7-0.

Elsewhere, the young Corinthians extended Broome Towns’ losing streak with a 5-2 victory.

Round five of competition will take place on Tuesday, August 21, when Pearlers will look to bounce back against the Corinthians and FC Meatworks will take on Broome Town.
