Roosters have win to crow about
Roey Roosters have continued building momentum early in the 2020 touch football season after securing a second consecutive win on Thursday night.
The Roosters took on Primewest Panthers in round two of the competition, and were quick to gain ground and build up a lead.
Mark Davis and Jessica MacPherson scored the opening tries, followed by Mitch Huntley to give the Roosters an early advantage while fumbles were costing the Panthers.
Although the Roosters were determined to try to shut down the Panthers, Pat Moase managed to break through and put the Panthers on the scoreboard.
After Rooster Simon Dean scored his first try for the match, the contest seemed to reach a stalemate as the Panthers found their groove and stepped up in defence.
But the Roosters soon sped towards the try line with two successive tries from Jamie Harvey and Gareth Preece.
A late try by Katrina Conlan saw the Panthers bring the half-time margin to four points.
The second half saw the Roosters continue to cement their advantage with a quick try from Jamie Harvey, while the fumbles seemed to continue plaguing the Panthers.
In the midst of strong defence, Simon Dean and Gareth Preece added more tries to the tally as they began running away with the victory.
Pat Moase might have scored a second try for the Panthers but efforts would prove futile as the Roosters went on to take out the match 11-3.
Elsewhere in division 1, Greenbacks defeated ALLSTARS 12-5, The Animals outlasted Scoregasms 8-5, and Stingrays took out the Cleanway Runaways 8-4.
Meanwhile in division 2, Exploders defeated Yippee Try Yay 11-4, HDU Chargers edged out Bush Chooks 4-3, Stingers beat Good Palpations 11-5, and ARAC Attack defeated Pirates 10-7.
