Pyrotechnics, blank ammunition and simulated battle noise to be used in Kimberley Air Force training

Pyrotechnics, blank ammunition and simulated battle noises will be used when the Australian Air Force conducts training near Curtin Air Base this month. The Australian Defence Force is urging people to not be alarmed by the routine training activity which may see defence personnel and vehicles passing through their community. Starting from July 4, communities may see Air Force personnel near public roads and airport points of entry around RAAF Base Curtin in the Kimberley and RAAF Base Tindal in the Northern Territory. The training activity, co-ordinated in conjunction with local, State and Territory agencies in order to minimise disturbance to communities, may also cause the closure of or restrict access to defence roads and establishments which will end on July 11. The exercise will ensure Air Force aviators have the skills necessary to conduct air base operations roles necessary within northern Australia, according to the RAAF. Defence was unable to provide any further information including specific timings regarding the training.
