A man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a high-speed evasion through Broome and the Dampier Peninsula before a police vehicle was damaged in a collision.
Police say officers attempted to stop a Nissan X-Trail on Pembroke Road about 8.10am on July 8, but the driver allegedly failed to stop despite emergency lights and sirens being activated.
The vehicle allegedly travelled at high speed through Broome and surrounding areas before driving through bushland near Cape Leveque Road, where it collided with a police vehicle.
The patrol car sustained significant damage, but no injuries were reported.
Police say the driver fled on foot before being arrested a short time later.
Broome detectives are continuing to investigate and are calling for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact Crime Stoppers.
