Odash take down the Gantheaume Pointers by 11 points to claim grand final spot

It was a fierce round of preliminary final and semifinal clashes at the BRAC basketball courts on Wednesday night as Broome Basketball Association teams pulled out all the stops to try to land a grand final spot.

In the A-grade men’s preliminary final, Odash beat the Gantheaume Pointers in a close and heated battle, 51 to 40.

Mat Carboon was the top point scorer for the Gantheaume Pointers once again with a haul of 13.

In the social men’s competition semifinal clash, the Spoonbills claimed another victory over the Pearlers in a dominate display on the court, 39-22.

Anthony Maher was the top scorer for the match, shooting 12 points for the Spoonbills, while Kurt Bello was the top scorer for the Pearlers managing to sink nine points over the course of the match.

In the social women’s preliminary final, the Greenback Beaches took on the Crystals once again, this time defeating them by 11 points, 32-21.

The Crystals’ Megan Bin Sali scored the most points out of both teams for the match, shooting 11 points.

Next week the spring competitions will enter the grand final rounds with the Greenback Beaches set to take on the Broome Blitzers in the social women’s competition while in the social men’s competition the Misfits will take on the Vipers for grand final glory.

In the A-grade men’s competition, Odash and the Skywalkers will go head to head in their grand final clash set for December 14 at the BRAC basketball courts from 6pm.
