A Broome artist has added to the reinvigorated Town Beach precinct with a colourful and eye-catching piece of art that does more than just look pretty. The mural, which was commissioned by the Shire of Broome through a grants process, also acts as an interactive sea creature search for viewers so they can appreciate the art as they search for the hidden creatures. The artist behind the work, Aisha Valenti, said she enjoyed transforming the old power box into an interactive sea creature search for the local park. “The best part was witnessing the colourful game come to life as children and adults circled around the mural each day to search for the local sea life,” she said. It comes after the shire won the Great Place category at the Planning Institute of Australia awards for the recent redevelopment of Town Beach, also known as Guwarri.
