The races weren’t the only thing that attracted a crowd at the Broome Cup 2022 as racegoers donned their best frocks and suits for Fashions on the Field 2022. Bright-coloured dresses and captivating fascinators took over the stage as the best-dressed patrons took a break from punting and put their hands up to strut their stuff for the Fashions on the Field judges. The competition was fierce with contestants dressed to perfection, proving Broomies’ reputation for style is well deserved. Winner Marilyn Fagan, one of the first female jockeys in WA, was greeted with gasps as she walked the stage in her aqua green and blue dress, green high heels and a green bow head piece that reflected the beautiful colours of the Kimberley. First runner-up Harriet Tunstall stunned onlookers as she took to the stage in her silky light blue and red dress, accented with an orange hand bag and high heels, topped off with an orange and pink feather head piece. Second runner-up Mel Blight also wowed the crowd as she showed off her all blue dress, topped with a spectacular blue fascinator and gold high heels and handbag.
