Man in court over bottle stabbing

A Broome man accused of inflicting life-threatening injuries to another man by repeatedly stabbing him with a broken wine bottle appeared in court today.

The 40-year-old appeared in Broome Magistrate’s Court charged with grievous bodily harm over the alleged attack on a 42 year old man.

Police are alleging the men were involved in a verbal and physical altercation around 10.10pm on Napier Terrace before the man allegedly grabbed a broken wine bottle and stabbed the other man in the arms, head and chest.

The 42 year old collapsed and the offender left the area. An ambulance arrived and the man was taken to Broome Hospital.

A police spokesman said he is in a stable condition.

The 40 year old man has been remanded to appear in court on March 13.
