Over the past two weeks, the Broome and Derby Speedway Clubs electrified fans as they clashed on the track, creating an exhilarating penultimate event for the 2023 season. In round one, at Broome Speedway on October 7, Demi Jenkins emerged as champion in the Junior Quarter Midgets narrowly edging out her competition Emily Kirk in second. The Junior Go Karts witnessed a fierce competition with Scotty Taylor seizing victory while Fletcher Lane followed closely in second and Jake Taylor notched up a respectable third place. The Senior Go Karts had Nathan Donald leading the pack, with Jim Gieson hot on his tail securing second place. Then Zac Webster claimed the victory in the New Star Juniors with Tamia Dixon placed second. In the Top Star Juniors Webster clinched another victory followed by Alyssa Halliday in second place and Sam and Ayden Mills in third and fourth. Robert Dunbar took home the win in the Street Stocks while Andrew Norton came in second followed by Eric Wade in third. Then Dylan McLaughlin came in first in the Modlites followed by Jason Webb in second and Rod Jenkins in third. Ethan Dowell beat Cody MacKeller for the top spot in the Modified Sedans and Jeff Steele took home the win in the Super Sedans feature. Round two, held at Derby Speedway on October 14, continued the intense competition with Webster claiming another win in the Junior New Stars with a total of 120 points followed by Brax Hardy in second with 95 points and Jesse-James Fuller in third on 86 points. In the Top Star Juniors category, Luke Bailey emerged as the clear winner with an impressive 1444 points. Cohen Doust took second spot with 97 points, and Koby Rickerby was third with 74 points. Rod Jenkins emerged victorious in the Modlites with 128 points while Jason Webb came second with 109 points and Dylan McLaughlin close behind on 105 points. Jakob Doust came away with the most points in the Street Stock sitting on 123 while Josh Ellis came second with 100 points and Nathan Doust claimed third on 90 points. As the 2023 Speedway season reaches its climax, fans can look forward to Broome Speedway’s last event of the year — the annual demolition derby set for October 21 this weekend.
