Kimberley croc attack: Two men injured after three metre croc attacks at Horizontal Falls

Two Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures crew members have been injured in a crocodile attack at the world-famous tourist destination on Monday. It is believed one man was bitten on the head, with a friend helping fend off the reptile also being injured. A Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions spokesperson said a saltwater croc, believed to be between two and three metres in length, was responsible for the attack. “An interaction between a 2-3 metre estuarine crocodile and two members of the public at Cyclone Creek, Talbot Bay in Lalang-Gaddam Marine Park was reported to the DBCA on Monday,” the department said. “Earlier this year, a similar-sized crocodile was reported launching itself towards vessels at this location. Since that report, a park alert has remained in place for the Cyclone Creek, Talbot Bay area urging vessel operators and visitors to be cautious. “Parks and Wildlife Service rangers are travelling to Talbot Bay to patrol the area. If a crocodile matching the description of the one involved in yesterday’s incident is located and continuing to pose a risk to public safety, an operational decision may be made to remove the animal.” An RFDS spokesperson said organisation doctors had given over-the-phone medical advice to those involved. A Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures media statement said the men were undertaking personal activities outside of work hours on a non-guest fishing vessel when the incident took place. “Two local crew members from Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures suffered injuries during an incident with a crocodile late yesterday,” the statement said. The pair were airlifted to Broome Hospital via a company plane for further assessment and treatment. More to come.
