Kim Churchill leads bill for Environs Kimberley fundraising gig in Broome

Broome music lovers are in for a treat with a rare opportunity to see international touring artist Kim Churchill and a vibrant mix of new and local acts at an upcoming one-off gig at the Broome Convention Centre on May 21.

Telling stories from his travels to Berlin, Vancouver Island, Devon and the Blue Mountains as part of his I Am Forgetting The End Again tour, Churchill’s Broome gig will see funds go to Environs Kimberley.

“The Kimberley is one of the most beautiful and unique parts of our country,” Churchill said.

“It needs to be loved and cared for, and I’m honoured to be coming to Broome for the first time in my life and contributing to this cause.”

Supporting Churchill on the night will be Ben Catley, who has performed at festivals around the world and is renowned for the energy he brings to the stage.

Broome’s very own For Sure will join Churchill and Catley on the night, bringing a classy blend of local musicians Bart Pigram, Adele Oliver and Michael Pigram.

Broome’s Chloe Schofield, who moved from Fremantle recently, will also feature.

Environs Kimberley director Martin Pritchard thanked the artists for their support and said he looked forward to the night.

“The Kimberley’s world- renowned environment is under a lot of pressure and it’s really uplifting to get this support from such accomplished artists,” he said.

“This will be a great boost for our work to protect the region and make sure we continue to have unspoilt landscapes, beautiful beaches, free-flowing rivers and healthy marine life into the future.”
