It was another exciting round of WKFL footy over the weekend, with several teams losing by massive margins. The Cable Beach Greenbacks smashed the Broome Towns in their Saturday match-up. Keifer Yu for the Greenbacks racked up a stellar 11 goals for Cable Beach and was followed by fellow Greenback Sunny Dann with four. Sean Gregory was the top scorer for the Towns kicking two goals, while teammamte Liam Bedford bagged one goal. The Towns started out fighting, kicking two goals in the first quarter but failed to score again until the last quarter, losing by 97 points, 19.10 (124) to 4.3 (27). The Derby Tigers secured another win, defeating the Broome Saints in Derby on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers’ Marcus Ruggiero was the top goal scorer for the match kicking five, with teammates Gerraye Maher and Jermaine Umbagai kicking two goals each. The Saints fought out the whole match but couldn’t keep up with the Tigers’ display of skill, losing by 64 points, 16.12 (108) to 6.8 (44). The Looma Eagles defeated the Bidyadanga Emus at Father McMahon Oval in Broome on Saturday afternoon. Phillip Hunter was the top scorer for the Emus booting two goals, while Eagle Courtney Thomas landed five goals. The Emus started slowly but picked up the pace in the second half, catching up to the Eagles but not enough to come home with the win, losing by 20 points, 12.7 (79) to 9.5 (59).
