Homeless Broome man fined for threatening to kill police officer and ‘eat’ his family

A homeless Broome man who threatened to kill a police officer and eat his “dog, wife and kids” has been fined more than $1200. Jason William Case pleaded guilty in Broome Magistrate’s Court on June 21 to charges including aggravated burglary and trespass. The court was told Case had been homeless for 11 years. In one incident, the court was told while in Wyndham on July 22, Case threatened to kill a police officer and said, “I’ll find out where you live, Wyndham is a small town”. During the same incident, Case threatened to eat the officer’s dog, wife and children. The court was also told that in two separate incidents in March, Case trespassed on the Mangrove Hotel and stole a keg of alcohol, before rolling it out on to the street. It was acknowledged Case had previously worked with Milliya Rumurra Aboriginal Corporation and had committed to undertake rehabilitation programs. Case was fined more than $1200 and given suspended imprisonment terms for nine months.
