Halls Creek childhood friends Jy Farrar and Shane McAdam face off in round 14 AFL action

There were a number of stand-out performances from Kimberley AFL players over the weekend, but images of Adelaide’s Shane McAdam flying over the back of childhood friend and fellow Halls Creek product Jy Farrer were the highlight of the week. Farrar and McAdam battled it out in the Sunday afternoon clash between the Gold Coast Suns and the Adelaide Crows at Metricon Stadium, with the Suns defeating the Crows. The Suns were behind at quarter time but jumped ahead of the Crows in the second quarter with Farrar notching up 15 disposals in the match. McAdam performed an amazing specky over Farrar and made 12 disposals for the Crows, kicking a goal and a behind in the last quarter. But it wasn’t enough to catch up to the Suns who where eight goals ahead by the final siren, winning by 43 points, 18.8 (116) to 10.13 (73). Richmond climbed into the eighth on the ladder after easily defeating Carlton at the MCG on Thursday night. There was a spirited effort from Broome’s Jack Martin who kicked a goal for the Blues in the third quarter and made a total of eight disposals throughout the game. But despite a well-orchestrated counter-attack from the Blues, Richmond held the lead for the entire match, defeating Carlton by 15 points, 11.15 (81) to 9.12 (66). Geelong moved into fourth on the ladder and the West Coast Eagles tallied another loss after succumbing to the Cats in their match-up at Optus Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Cats led before the first siren but the Eagles closed the gap over the next term with both teams on 41 points before the Cats pulled in front again in the last half. Sam Petrevski-Seton from Halls Creek wasn’t able to help the Eagles combat the Cats due to being out with an illness, with West Coast losing 12.9 (81) to 9.9 (63). There was no sign of Broome’s Bailey Banfield for the Fremantle Dockers or Derby’s Callum Ah Chee for the Brisbane Lions this round, with both teams on a bye.
