Halls Creek AFLW star Krstel Petrevski flies high with the Eagles in Collingwood clash

Halls Creek AFLW star Krstel Petrevski returned to the field this week for the first time since round three, showing her skills on the wing at Ikon Park. The 21-year-old Kimberley product replaced midfielder Ella Smith who was ruled out after suffering a foot injury as the side prepared to fly to Melbourne for the away match, making the only change to the line-up since the last round. The Saturday clash at Ikon Park against the Geelong Cats marked the first time Petrevski has been in the West Coast Eagles line-up since round three earlier this year after joining West Coast following three seasons playing for the Melbourne Demons. Ikon Park was host to three matches over the weekend as a part of the AFLW’s Pride festival with Carlton playing the Richmond, the Sydney Swans taking on Essendon and West Coast facing down Geelong. The Eagles ran out onto the oval wearing their Pride guernsey for the second time this season after it was unveiled last week in front of home fans at Mineral Resources Park. The Eagles put up a good fight against their opponents from the east but ultimately Geelong managed to pull in front of the West Coast side to take home the win. West Coast started off firing with Ella Roberts kicking the first goal of the match but then quickly fell away as Geelong locked the ball their forward, closing the first half with a six-point lead, 1.6 (12) to 1.0 (6). Petrevski started to get her gears into motion upon returning to the field, taking a solid mark and making two disposals off the boot before laying down a tackle. But Geelong continued to keep the ball in their forward fifty for the second half as the Eagles struggled to move the ball out of their defence, with the Cats staying in front despite efforts from the Eagles to gain back ground. Geelong closed out the match by nine points, 4.10 (34) to 4.1 (25). West Coast will take on the Western Bulldogs next week during round nine at Mineral Resources Park in Perth.
