Greenbacks continue dominant Broome Netball Association form with second win of more than 20 points

Greenbacks are fast proving they are the team to beat this season, sealing their second win with a margin of more than 20 points for the season. Broome mixed netball began in October with Greenbacks steaming ahead after a 24-point win against Townies. Now, in round two, the team is well and truly leaving their competitors in the dust, beating Broomies 29 to 9. It was consistent play for the winners, starting the game two points ahead. Second quarter saw the ball in the Greenbacks’ goal circle for most of the game. While the winners stayed in the No.1 spot, Broomies sunk heavily to the bottom of the ladder. In other games, Hornets played an impressive game against Fossils. Struggling to maintain their lead in the first half, there must have been an impressive pep talk at the mid-time break. Hornets had a mighty boost of confidence in the second half, taking a 15-point lead against Fossils which carried them to full time. The final score was 35 to 20. Things were a bit closer in the game between TBC and Townies. TBC started the match strong, entering quarter time four points ahead. This initial confidence was a credit to their eventual win of 31 against 25. In division two, play was fierce and margins were big. Nets came up against The Defectors to come out on top with a final score of 27 to 14. Orl Blaks were just as successful in their game against West Coast Fever, finishing the match 31 to 16. Us Mob were heading for a similar fate against Freestylers, before their opposition gained some last-minute confidence and narrowed the margin, finished 31 to 26. Round three will play out at Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre on November 7.
