Gibb River Road blaze moving westerly towards Ellenbrae Station
A Bushfire Advice has been put place along the Gibb River Road as a fire continues to blaze near Ellenbrae Station this morning.
The advice a warning is in place for people travelling along the Gibb River Road between Dawn Creek and Bamboo Creek including Ellenbrae Station, Ellenbrae Road and Karunjie Station.
As of 10.37am this morning the fire is still not contained or controlled and continues to burn on both sides of the Gibb River Road, moving in a westerly direction towards Ellenbrae Station, according to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
However, there is no current threat to lives or homes.
Ellenbrae Station confirmed on their Facebook page that they had been affected by the fire.
“It’s been a pretty full on day, but people, property and infrastructure around the homestead are all okay. We are however a “little charred” on the outside,” the post read.
“Due to a substantial fire blazing through Ellenbrae Station late this morning and into this afternoon, we will be closed tomorrow to all guests whilst we assess the homestead and campgrounds.
“We will post further updates once we can assess things more thoroughly tomorrow and hopefully we can welcome guests again in the coming days.”
There is a lot of smoke in the area and DFES is asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.
Although roads are not closed motorists on the Gibb River Road west of Ellenbrae station are asked to monitor the situation and drive to road conditions.
