Garnduwa’s Kimberley Spirit Program announces new partners for 2023

Garnduwa’s Kimberley Spirit Football Program has continued its expansion this year, announcing the program will partner with the Majarlin Kimberley Centre for Remote Health and the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service. KAMS will partner with Kimberley Spirit through their Her Rules Her Game initiative which empowers women to stay healthy and active. In a statement, Her Rules Her Game team said they were excited to team up with Kimberley Spirit in 2023 to provide education on living a healthy lifestyle. “We wish the inspiring young female leaders of the Kimberley all the best, and we’re looking forward to watching you grow as you kick goals on and off the field,” the statement said. The Majarlin Kimberley Centre for Remote Health, with its office based at Notre Dame University’s Broome Campus, hosts industry placements in the Kimberley for clinical nursing students from universities across Australia. The Remote Health Centre will help the Kimberley Spirit Program through injury prevention with students putting their medical skills to work during Kimberley Spirit training camps and matches. The Majarlin students will also pass on their skills to help educate Kimberley Spirit Program players so they have the knowledge to help prevent and manage their own injuries. It comes after Garnduwa announced In December last year the program would be expanded to include a female pathway for all the young footy mad girls across the Kimberley in 2023. Training began on January 18.
