Gantheaume Pointers claim massive 30-point win over the Raiders in round one

The Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre basketball courts were teeming with keen basketballers looking to get back in the action as the competition returned for it’s first round of the season.

In the men’s A-grade competition, the Gantheaume Pointers destroyed the Raiders by 30 points, 58 to 28.

Jetani Hunter and Gene Eaton were the Pointers’ best players of the match with Hunter also the top scorer for the team shooting a total of 12 points.

The Warriors, formerly known as the Kings, took on the Skywalkers in a fast-paced match-up but succumbed to the Skywalkers, 38 to 48.

Warriors’ Trevor Menmuir was the top scorer of the match shooting a total of 19 points while Skywalkers’ Nathan Woodhouse shot 14 points.

Then Odash went up against the Tigers in an extremely competitive game with Odash just getting over the line, 39 to 37.

Odash’s Chris Hunter and Lyle Sibosado were equal top scorers with 14 points apiece.

For the Tigers, Decovan Lane was their stand-out player and top scorer shooting nine points.

In the social men’s competition, the Vipers crushed the Cobras defeating them by 16 points, 49 to 33.

Jaden Howard was the top scorer for the unlucky Cobra’s, scoring 13 points.

The Spoonbills managed to take down the Broome Gators in their clash, defeating the Gators by a decent margin of 16 points, 41 to 25.

Spoonbill’s Campbell Mellor was the top scorer of the match with 19 points while William Tollner was the top scorer for the Gators with eight.

In the women’s competition, the Pacers annihilated the Sharks, 46 to 6.

Callista Barritt was the top scorer for the Sharks with two points while Diandra Cox was the top Pacers’ scorer with 11.

Then the Lady Bombers just managed to steal the win from On Call by a single point, 14 to 13.

On Call’s Chantelle Eaves was the top scorer of the match with seven points.

And the Crystals out-gunned the Broome Blitzers, 27 to 18.

The Crystals’ Raelene Tuckett top-scored with nine points.
