Freestylers finish as champs

An intense rematch between Broome floorball’s top sides resulted in The Freestylers pulling off the victory and winning the premiership.

The Freestylers took on the formidable Krista once again in the grand final of the senior floorball competition on Tuesday, December 11.

A fast-paced start saw The Freestylers quick to build up a lead while Krista would be quick to respond late in the quarter,

In the second quarter, The Free-stylers extended their lead even further although Krista would give them a scare with signs of an early comeback.

As Krista began to step up the pressure, they managed to work their way up to just two points behind The Freestylers at half-time.

After the main break, the match-up began to look like a stalemate as both teams worked hard to keep each there scoreless.

However, The Freestylers would give themselves more of an advantage heading into the final quarter with a late goal.

In the final quarter, the intense match-up continued with both teams employing quick passes, strong defensive pressure and impressive saves at goal.

Krista were quick to continue making their comeback with two more goals, although the battle would soon become a struggle once again.

Spectators were left on the edge of their seats when a goal for The Freestylers in the last two minutes seemed to begin closing the door on Krista.

Once the final siren sounded, it would be The Freestylers that would hold on to win 10-8, bringing the thrilling season to a close.

Elsewhere, Thunder were named the inaugural junior premiers after defeating Thunder 12-3 in a one-sided affair.
