Five Broome teens arrested after aggravated burglaries, car stolen and petrol station rammed

Five Broome teenagers have been arrested after allegedly forcing entry into multiple properties, threatening three young female occupants who had to barricade themselves into a bedroom and later ramming a petrol station with one of the victims’ stolen cars. It is alleged between 12.40am and 1.25am on November 5, a vehicle was stolen during one of two residential burglaries and used to force entry into a petrol station where several items were stolen, according to a police spokesperson. Images supplied to the Broome Advertiser on the condition of anonymity show the damage sustained to the residential property and the horrifying lengths the teens went to in order to gain entry. It is alleged after the teens broke into the residence, the three young female occupants barricaded themselves into a bedroom before the door was smashed down, threatened to be harmed if they didn’t hand over car keys. The eldest of the accused was allegedly ordering the rest of the co-accused group on what to do during the break-in. Police attended a residence in Cable Beach the following day where several people ran from the address, resulting in the arrest of five people after a short foot chase. It is alleged items of stolen property were located at the residence. A 19-year-old man from Broome and a 17-year-old boy from Bidgyadanga were charged with three counts of stealing, two counts of aggravated home burglary, one count of aggravated burglary on a place, one count of stealing a motor vehicle and one count of criminal damage or destruction of property. The 19-year-old man faces other charges from a previous unrelated incident and will be appearing before Broome Magistrates Court on November 24. Three other arrested juveniles have been redirected from the court process and referred to a Juvenile Justice Team, according to police.
