As the year draws to a close, the East Kimberley community is gearing up to honour its standout athletes and contributors in the world of sports.

Recognising the dedication, talent, and achievements of individuals and organisations, the annual awards ceremony set for November 24 promises to be a thrilling celebration of athleticism and community spirit.

Eric Cox Jnr, who featured in the Kimberley Echo earlier this year after winning the East Kimberley Football League’s Vagg Medal, has been nominated as a finalist for the Rising Male Sports Star award alongside Billy Lovelock (football) and Carl Rex (football).

Elsie Phillips, Mia Jackson (football) and Shakara Newry (football) have been nominated as the finalists in the Rising Female Sports Star category.

The Senior Male Sports Star of the Year category sees fierce competition among Brendo Tingey (football), James Edwards, and Ray Guidici (football), while the Senior Female Sports Star of the Year finalists include Amelia Sherry, Kaylee Hulse, and Nyoakah James.

Adam Jenkins, Marcus Jenkins and Petina Pitt-Lancaster were announced as finalists for the Volunteer of the Year award.

Chris Puckeridge, Emma Walker and Vanessa Jenkins were nominated as finalists for the Service to Sport award.

Josh Lewis, Leo Nickels and Walter Butler are the finalists for the Coach of the Year award.

Belinda Davis, Dan Walkerdan and Matthew Rosher were nominated as finalists for the Umpire of the Year award.

The Kununurra Netball Association alongside the Squash Club and the Waterski Club are the finalists for the Club or Association of the Year award.

The Kununurra Junior Football League, the Parkrun club and the Tennis Club are the finalists for the Inclusive Club or Association of the Year.
