Dig Deeper lived up to their name and dug deep to hold off the formidable Ancient Guns to get their season off to a flying start.

After having the first bye of the season in round one, Dig Deeper had a tough challenge last Wednesday when they went up against the Ancient Guns, who returned to competition after taking a season break.

The first set saw Dig Deeper build up a solid lead with tricky tips and hard-hitting serves as the Ancient Guns seemed to struggle finding their rhythm.

As errors and wayward passes cost Ancient Guns any chance to fight back, Dig Deeper went on to take the first set 25-7.

The second set saw a similar pattern as Dig Deeper built themselves an early lead once again.

However, Ancient Guns fought back to eventually take the lead, drastically changing the contest’s dynamic.

In a close finish, Dig Deeper managed to win the second set 26-24.

The final set saw an even start as the Ancient Guns continued their fight to win a set.

In the midst of dynamic rallies, it was another close finish as both teams began a tug of war to take the final set.

Dig Deeper held on to win the third set 25-23, taking the match in straight sets.

Elsewhere, Islanders defeated Volleybrawlers 3-0 in a dynamic contest, Freeballin beat Beta Blockers 2-1 and Set for Life defeated Eagles 3-0.
