A man will face court on multiple drug and weapons charges after police allegedly uncovered half a kilo of cannabis worth up to $30,000 and an extendable baton during a search.

Detective Sergeant Neil Vanderplank said Derby detectives were conducting enquiries in relation to another matter when they came across a man in possession of a quantity of cannabis at about 3pm yesterday afternoon.

As a result, they executed a search warrant at a property and allegedly found about 500g of cannabis, a rifle, ammunition, an extendable baton and about $2500 cash.

The 40 year old man will appear in Derby Magistrate’s court next month on various charges including possession of cannabis with intent to sell or supply, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled weapon.
