Daniel Fox, Braden Becker and Brady Watt share spoils at Broome Golf Club Open Pro-Am

A last-round fightback from Perth junior Brady Watts saw a three-way tie end the biggest event on the Broome Golf Club’s calendar on the weekend. Golfers from across Australia flocked to the first Broome Open Pro-Am since the new clubhouse opened, with golfers at the packed two-day event embracing a break in poor weather to face off. After a stellar performance on day one, Perth golfer Daniel Fox was leading the charge heading into an unusually cold and blustery day-two. Starting the second round five shots behind Fox, Watt put on a show for the crowd, managing eight birdies in trying conditions to finish day two on level terms with Fox and Braden Becker. Returning after his win at the same event in 2019, Fox had four birdies and four bogeys on his way to an even-par 72. Looking to build on his 2019 third place finish, Braden Becker also fought the day-two conditions to hit an impressive nine straight pars at the start of the day and manage an eagle on the par-5 17th hole. South Australians Max McCardle and Peter Cooke tied for fourth two shots back of the winners with Andrew Kelly matching Watt’s day two to take sixth position. Brady Watt’s win puts him in the outright lead of the WA Adidas Pro-Am Series order of merit. In the amateur comp, Broome Golf saw the familiar face of Judy Chappell again take the top spot for the women, while the men’s was won by Dave Carlson. Brett Hurley was crowned Willie Creek Pearls Summer Cup Champion at the vent.
