Cable Beach book ticket to grand final after taking down the Looma Eagles

Cable Beach have had their revenge against the Looma Eagles at the weekend, taking down the underdog in the preliminary final down on Haynes Oval and securing themselves a ticket to the grand final. The 2022 premiers shot to the lead in the first term kicking five goals while Looma struggled to get onto the board with just two goals. Rohen Maher for Cable Beach was the top scorer of the day kicking three goals over the course of the match. Cable Beach started to slow down during the second half allowing Looma to stage a small comeback but it was quickly squashed in the final term with Cable Beach sinking another two goals to secure themselves the victory, 10.11 (71) to 8.7 (55). Now Cable Beach will take on Broome Towns in the grand final this coming Saturday down at Haynes Oval at 1pm. It was the reverse in the women’s league with the Looma Eagles claiming the win against the Broome Towns after a hard fought clash on Haynes Oval. Looma held a slim lead during the first half of the clash until the third quarter where they hit their stride securing a two-goal lead which they carried into the final term. Jehanne Broome was a powerhouse for the Looma women’s team kicking three goals, making her the top goal scorer of the match. The Broome Towns didn’t take the loss laying down, fighting tooth and nail until the final siren secured the victory for the Eagles, 5.6 (36) to 2.8 (20). Now the Looma Eagles go on to play in the grand final against Cable Beach this Saturday at Haynes Oval at 11am.
