Cable Beach and Broome Towns remain undefeated in WKFLW after round five

Cable Beach and Broome Towns remain neck and neck in the womens’ West Kimberley Football League, with both teams undefeated after round five last weekend. Cable Beach chalked up another dominant win after going head to head with the Looma Eagles at the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre ovals on Saturday afternoon. Cable Beach’s Sienna Carstairs kicked the first two goals of the match before Edith Boundry kicked another in the last minute to give the Greenbacks a 17-point lead, 3.0 (18) to 0.1 (1). In the second term, Looma’s Latifa Banjo made an attempt at goal but failed, resulting in a behind, while Beach’s Simone Narkle kicked her first of the day to extend her side’s lead with the scoreline 5.2 (32) to 0.2 (2). The third term was all Narkle’s as the star player made two successful shots at goal and scored a behind, taking the score to 7.3 (45) to 2.3 (15). But Looma was not going to give up the fight just yet, with the Eagles mounting a last ditch effort and scoring two goals in the final term thanks to Sindonie Skeen and Cazarah Augustine. However their efforts were in vain and Cable Beach ran away with the win, 8.4 (52) to 2.3 (15). Narkle was the top goal-kicker of the match with four goals. The Broome Towns had a superior win over the Broome Saints on Saturday morning. The Saints opened the match with a behind by Kellie Greatwich, followed by a goal from Wedilyn Torres, but then quickly fell behind as the Towns took control of the ground. The Saints failed to make another score for the rest of the match while the Towns went on to plug 13 goals, resulting in a resounding defeat for the Saints, 13.14 (92) to 1.1 (7). Broome Towns’ Sophie Moore was the top goal-kicker of the match with three goals.
