Broome’s Will’s World recognised for contribution to community in Disability Support Awards

Broome lawn-mowing and gardening enterprise Will’s World excelled at the Disability Support Awards on March 24, taking home the Excellence in Supporting Outcomes Award for their outstanding achievements in contributing to the local community.
Will Anthony, a young man with autism, established Will’s World last year alongside his support crew to turn his passion into a business and provide the same opportunities to those looking for employment.
Since gaining a following on social media with videos of him in action at work and quirky dance moves on Cable Beach, the energetic landscaper was nominated in four categories for the Disability Support Awards.
Lining up on stage with his older brother James, support team and other finalists, Mr Anthony waved his fists in the air with joy as Will’s World was read out as the winner of the Excellence in Supporting Outcomes Award category.
While the team and finalists embraced each other in congratulations, Mr Anthony thanked his support crew over the audience’s cheers and loud music.
Hosted by Disability Support Services, the awards recognise the contribution and accomplishments of workers and organisations who support people with disability.
Will’s World team leader and support worker Nathan Allaway said the award was a very special moment for everyone involved.
“It was Will’s first major award, not like a participation award, so it was great to see the recognition Will and the team deserves,” he said.
“It’s been a tricky journey, but we feel like we’re building creative ways to support people with disabilities.”
Nominees from all over WA, plus more than 600 guests including 140 people with disability, attended the ceremony at Crown Perth.
