Broome’s iconic Cable Beach has been recognised as the third-best beach in the world at Tripadvisor’s annual Travelers’ Choice Awards. Based on the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings from Tripadvisor travellers over the 12-month period from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022, the world-famous beach was beaten only by Baia do Sancho in Brazil, and Eagle Beach in the Caribbean. “Cable Beach is an iconic place in Broome with pristine white sand that stretches for many kilometres, it is easy to see why,” a review from Tripadvisor user TWal1 read. “It is popular with locals and tourists who can enjoy a range of activities from swimming and sunbathing to walking and running. It is a perfect place to relax and the sunsets are very special too.” The WA beach was one of just two Australian beaches to crack the top 25 in the world, with Manly Beach in Sydney claiming the 13th spot. Shire of Broome President Harold Tracey said the beach was loved by locals, and the third-place ranking came as no surprise. “It is bucket-list destination for people from around the world and those that finally get to tick it off rarely, if ever, feel disappointed,” he said. “And as a local, you only need to spend a few days away from the place to be amazed by it all over again. “We at the Shire are looking forward to making the experience even better with the Cable Beach Foreshore Redevelopment that will protect, complement and further showcase this world-class tourist attraction and ensure it remains one of Broome and Western Australia’s biggest drawcards.” Exmouth’s Turquoise Bay was the only other WA beach to featured in the top 10 beaches in the South Pacific, coming in at number nine.
