Broome’s own Eternal MMA Champion Quillan Salkilld is set to make another defence of his lightweight title, taking on a former opponent, Dom “Street Buddha” Mar Fan, during Eternal MMA 82.

The event is set to take place at HBF Stadium on February 10 with three other title fights taking place on the same night.

The title defence comes after Salkilld successfully defended his title against New Jerseyan Brett Pastore in October.

Armed with a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and credentials in both Sambo and wrestling, Pastore had the tools to potentially unseat the reigning champion but Salkilld proved he had the lightweight division on lock after dominating the American over three rounds, leaving no doubt as to who was the lightweight champion.

Now, Salkilld is on the brink of another defence, this time against Mar Fan, who also boasts a brown belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu.

Last time the two fighters met at Eternal MMA 68, Salkilld won the bout with a third-round submission via a rear naked choke, handing Mar Fan his only recorded defeat.

Mar Fan, confident in his skills, aims to prove that he has evolved since their last encounter and has boldly claimed he will “finish” Salkilld.

The 23-year-old Brisbane fighter has said he can grapple with the best in the game but Salkilld has also proved he has ground game, dominating Pastore in his last bout despite his opponent seeming to have the superior skills on the ground.

The “Street Buddha” has also established an impressive winning streak since the two last met, winning three fights in 2023 and his last bout against Michael Stanoff via submission with a rear naked choke in the second round.

The only question that remains is whether Mar Fan can truly deliver on his promise to shock the audience with his sharpened skills and take down the reigning champion.

You can watch Salkilld take on Mar Fan on UFC Fight Pass on February 10.
