Broome woman charged with allegedly using edged weapon during brawl

A 29-year-old Broome woman has been charged after allegedly cutting a woman with an edged weapon during an alleged brawl last month.

Police responded to reports of a large group of people allegedly fighting and threatening each other around Reid Road, near Woods Drive in Cable Beach, between 9.10pm and 9.30pm on Thursday, July 24.

Police allege the woman was armed with an edged weapon when she stuck a person, causing a minor cut to their hand.

The type of edged weapon was not disclosed.

The woman was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and being armed. She is scheduled to appear in the Broome Magistrates Court on August 18.

An 18-year-old Dampier Peninsula man has also been charged with being armed and trespass in relation to the incident. He is scheduled to appear in the Dampier Peninsula Magistrates Court on August 26.

Police are appealing to witnesses with any footage of the incident to come forward as they continue to investigate.
