Broome sports star Annabella Thompson, is gearing up to represent Australia at the upcoming Oceania Athletics Championship in Fiji next month.

The event, scheduled from June 1 to June 8, will witness Thompson showcasing her exceptional talent on the international stage.

Despite being just 15 years-old, Thompson’s prowess in discus and hammer throw has earned her a spot in the Under-18s division, where she will compete against representatives from 13 other athletics federations.

Expressing her excitement, Thompson shared her eagerness to embrace this invaluable experience.

“I am very excited to step in to the International stage, and take in the experience,” she said.

“I am very lucky to have one of Australia’s up and coming throw coaches Janno Van Der Linde support me all the way.

“It can be hard at times as he is in Perth, but we do video coaching multiple times a week.

“I have a long way to go, and have lot more to give in the world of athletics.”

Thompson’s participation in the Oceania Athletics Championships follows her remarkable performance at the 2024 Country Athletics Championships in January, where she clinched gold in discus and bronze in javelin and shot put in the under-16s girls’ division.
