A Broome resident is $75,000 richer after scooping the top prize on a $5 lottery scratch card.

The local, who does not wish to be identified, won the cool sum after purchasing the Scratch’n’Win Word Play game at Broome Lottery Centre and News.

This is the second time a lucky winner has come forward to claim a Scratch’n’Win prize in the region in less than a year.

Both winning scratch cards were sold at the newsagency.

Broome Lottery Centre and News owner Nescia Hick said the winner spent just $5 on a Word Play scratchie and walked away with more than 15,000 times that amount.

“It just goes to show everyone has a chance to win no matter how much they spend.”

Ms Hick said her store also sold a $3 scratchie worth $50,000 last July.

“In July, we were delighted when an elderly couple from Moora took out the top prize.”
