Broome rapist Rami Rahman admits to crime spree, including assaulting a mother and daughter in the same bed

A Broome man that was on the run from police for four days has admitted to a raft of assault charges, including raping a mother and child while they slept in the same bed. Rami Jonathon Rahman, 36, broke into a home where a woman, 30, and her child, who was under 13-years-old, were sleeping in the same bed, then threatened them with a knife while sexually assaulting them both. Rahman also indecently assaulted three teenage girls, aged between 13 and 18, in their beds while he threatened them with knives in separate incidents. Police said earlier this year that one of the girls awoke to find him lying beside her and attempting to remove her clothing. He was found and arrested in a bathtub of a vacant Cable Beach property after a four-day hunt in June, which saw extra police deployed to the Kimberley town. Rahman, 36, appeared in court via videolink from Hakea Prison this afternoon, where he pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual penetration of a child aged under 13 years in the course of an aggravated home burglary, aggravated sexual penetration without consent in the course of an aggravated home burglary, making threats to do an act, unlawful and indecent assault and deprivation of liberty. As Magistrate Stephen Sharratt read the charges to Rahman, he cried and said it was “f***ing disgusting, terrible and disturbing” hearing the charges. He is due to appear in the District Court for sentence mention on December 22.
