Broome pets invited to take part in international photography project to raise funds for animal charities

An award-winning Australian pet photographer is travelling up the WA coast to photograph dogs in Broome as part of an international photography project to raise funds for animal charities. Melbourne-based master photographer Kerry Martin will be in Broome between June 28-30 as part of Tails of the World, an international book project made up of a collective of professional pet photographers. Proceeds from the photographic coffee table book will go towards Australian charities Vets Beyond Borders and Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities. The annual books have since raised nearly $150,000 for animal charities worldwide and featured more than 1150 dogs from across the globe, with funds raised through donations from the photo session fees and book sales. Ms Kerry, who is in her third year of the project, said it “feels special’ being involved and that she wanted to give back to those charities who work in the areas the project is covering. “It’s a privilege to be able to bring this project to Broome — it’s special for me to be able to photograph in such a diverse range of places,” she said, “Last year, some photos were in the snow and this year it’s the complete opposite, it’s so exciting. “We’ve travelled to Broome with our own dogs before so I know how beautiful it is — it’s an honour to be able to do that and hopefully meet some Broome adoring pet parents.” Session spots are limited with participation costs starting from $100. The participation fee and five per cent of the photography wall art sales from the sessions will be donated to Vets Beyond Borders and AMRRIC.
