Broome Pearlers seal grand final berth with two-point win over minor premiers Cable Beach

The first round of finals in the 2022 Broome Winter Netball season was a fierce battle of the best with the Pearlers cementing their spot in the grand final. It was a close game between the Pearlers and Cable Beach this week which seemed sure to end with the latter’s victory at the end of the first quarter. However, the Pearlers were quick to force their hand in the second quarter, and finishing a mere two points ahead of this season’s top team, 44-42. This was the second loss for Cable Beach this season — both times to the Pearlers. While the Pearlers have earned a well-deserved break next week, Cable Beach will have another shot at the grand final, playing against this week’s second winners Towns. Town’s opposition, Bullets, were forced to say goodbye to this year’s season after they lost by a disappointing eight goals at 29 to 37. With Bullets eliminated from the finals, Towns will go on to play Cable Beach for a chance at playing the now-determined runner-ups, Pearlers Old Girls, in the grand final on September 3.
