The Broome community gathered at Bedford Park on Tuesday, November 11th for a Remembrance Day service, honouring the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations around the world.

Hosted by the Broome RSL sub-branch, the ceremony began with a welcome address from RSL president Lt-Col Craig Bruhn.

Members of the Kimberley Squadron, NORFORCE, mounted the catafalque party, standing guard in a powerful display of respect and vigilance.

Reverend Michael Baines delivered a prayer of remembranec, followed by a recital of John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields by Helen Esmanis.

Lt-Col Bruhn then returned to deliver the Remembrance Day address, reflecting on the significance of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, and the legacy of those who had made the ultimate sacrifice.

Wreaths were laid by dignitaries and community representatives.

Lt-Col Bruhn recited The Ode Of Remembrance, followed by the sounding of The Last Post and one minute of silence.

The Reveille was then played as the flags were raised, before the Australian national anthem was sung.

The service concluded with the dismounting of the catafalque party by NORFORCE personnel.
