Broome insurance broker David Keys wins Australian broker of the year at annual Austbrokers Conference

Broome’s only insurance broker has been recognised as the Australian Broker of the Year at this year’s annual Austbrokers Conference on April 5. Broome Insurance Brokers director David Keys was awarded for his efforts in the Kimberley, including significant growth in businesses, finalising claims and sponsorship of the premiership winners Cable Beach Football Club. Despite not being able to attend the conference in Adelaide, Mr Keys said he was humbled upon hearing he was the recipient of the award. “I was surprised, but I’m really happy with it,” he said. “It was nice hearing lots of congratulations from different people and leaders of major insurance companies. “I’ve been in the insurance broking industry for 38 years, and this has been one of the many highlights.” Mr Keys said he had a lot in store for the next 12 months, including working closely with the Australian government’s to improve insurance affordabilty for northern Australia. “We’re constantly in contact with them and various bodies to determine what sort of premium reductions will apply to residents in the Kimberley,” he said. “We are doing our best to keep the premiums down in this region, we are paying more than everyone else.”
