Kimberley businesses were in the spotlight this week, with three Broome businesses winning their nominated categories at the Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry WA’s inaugural Regional Business Excellence Awards.

Nominated out of a pool of 65 regional businesses across WA, four Broome businesses were shortlisted from nine nominations and flew to Perth to attend a gala dinner held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on April 18.

Willie Creek Pearls won the 21+ Employees category, Broome Weddings & Events won the Start Up category, and Air Kimberley took home two awards from the 11-20 Employees and Sustainable and Environmental Business Practices categories.

Broome Chamber chief executive Sharni Foulkes said she couldn’t be more proud of the businesses representing Broome.

“(I had) hoped for at least one win, but topping the State with three winners was a true testament to the hard work and resilience of our business owners,” Ms Foulkes said.

Judging was carried out by the Small Business Development Corporation earlier this year, with RCCIWA sourcing regional vendors for the event to ensure representation across WA was celebrated.

RCCIWA chief executive Kitty Prodonovich congratulates all businesses around the State.

“What an amazing night it was, everyone looked spectacular and the feeling in the room was electric,” Ms Prodonovich said.
