Broome Barracudas bring home 28 personal bests from WA Junior State Championship

A contingent of 10 up and coming swimming stars from the Broome Barracudas Swimming Club travelled to Perth over the weekend to compete in the WA Junior State and End of Season Championships.
The Broome swimmers competed in 45 events over four days of competition and smashed a massive 28 personal bests while doing so.
The young cohort of swimmers also brought home a slew of medals, including three gold, five silver and six bronze.
Nathan Ralph, 18, won gold in 100m backstroke, silver in 50m and 100m freestyle events and bronze in 200m freestyle and 50m butterfly in the boy’s 16 years and over division.
Ruby Onofrio, 15, came fourth in 50m breaststroke and fifth in 100m breaststroke in the women’s 15 years and older division.
Lochlan Penegar, 15, won gold in 100m freestyle, silver in 100m butterfly, bronze in 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 200m medley and was fourth in 50m and 400m freestyle in the boy’s 15 years division.
Felix Carroll, 14, won gold in 200m freestyle, silver in 50m and 100m breaststroke and bronze in 400m freestyle in the boy’s 14 years division,
And young Max Cavanagh, 11, came fifth in 50m butterfly.
It comes after the Broome Barracudas returned home flaunting an eye-watering 88 medal haul after competing in the Northern Regional Long Course Carnival in March this year including 34 gold, 27 silver and 27 bronze.
