A small squad of Broome’s finest martial artists placed a stamp of dominance on the competition after competing in a tournament earlier this month.

ATI Martial Arts Broome travelled to Perth to compete in the ATI Martial Arts Club Championships on November 8 and 9, where taekwondo, kickboxing and Brazilian jiujitsu were featured.

All nine members of the squad brought home medals, with the final tally comprising 17 gold, 13 silver and two bronze.

Broome Mixed Martial Arts coach Blake Glossop showed why he was considered one of the elite jiujitsu artists after taking gold in his events and coaching teammates Damon Vomiero and TJ Anderson to victories of their own.

Vomiero and Anderson, both 13, also struck gold in point fighting, continuous sparring, traditional patterns and breaking/technical events, amassing an impressive haul of six gold medals each.

Along with Glossop, ATI Martial Arts coach Tristan Johnston steered his team to the most successful result in the club’s competition history.

Mr Johnston said he could not be prouder of the results and looked forward to next year.

The team will shift their focus to the upcoming national championships.
