Amy Pania visits her old high school to inspire next generation of Broome talent

Australian Idol runner-up Amy Pania, also known as Amy Reeves, visited her hometown of Broome last week, dropping into her old stomping ground, Broome Senior High School, to inspire the next generation of Broome talent. Amy Pania burst on to the Australian music scene earlier this year with her powerful and soulful voice which took her all the way to the 2024 Australian Idol grand finale. Since then the Broome born and bred music sensation has returned home to visit her old high school to perform Hallelujah on the school stage, like she did during her time as a student. Attending the school assembly on September 12, Pania delivered a powerful speech, telling the Broome students that anything was possible and the “sky is the limit”. “I’m here today to just let you guys know that you are capable of everything and anything. Your goals are achievable, and living in this beautiful small town does not mean that you are limited,” she said. “As cheesy as this may sound, the sky is truly the limit and you are the only person that is going to stand in your own way. “The first time that I was on the stage, I was 13-years-old, belting out some Jeff Buckley, some Hallelujah. I was very nervous. I was clutching my lyrics in my hand, and my knees were shaking. “I’m so honoured to be back here now as a West Australian Academy of Performing Arts graduate, recent Australian Idol runner-up, and now, more recently, a signed music artist in the industry. “Be present. Be passionate. Be kind. Enjoy your time here at Broome Senior High School, it goes by so quickly.” It came after Pania performed at the Broome Turf Club for the Sunset Sounds Music Festival on September 7. Pania also performed at local Broome brewery and bar, Spinifex, on Sunday, September 15, rocking out the locals to her soulful sounds as the sun set over Cable Beach.
