Perth bikies: Notorious bikie figure Brett ‘Kaos’ Pechey due to face court on weapons-related charge

Notorious bikie figure Brett ‘Kaos’ Pechey – who has found himself in the headlines in recent weeks – will soon find himself in a Perth courtroom on a weapons-related charge. The West Australian can reveal Pechey has recently been charged by police with possessing a prohibited weapon. The charge will come before the Joondalup Magistrates Court for the first time next month. The West understands the charge relates to a ‘flick knife’ that police allegedly found at Pechey’s home address on January 22. Flick knives are one of more than a dozen weapons considered prohibited under the Weapons Act 1999. Also classed as prohibited weapons under the Act are butterfly knives, gel blasters, knuckle dusters, extendable batons and crossbows. The maximum penalty for those found guilty of possessing a prohibited weapon in WA is three years jail, or a $36,000 fine. The new charge for 37-year-old Pechey comes after a tumultuous few weeks for the heavily tattooed gang figure. Last month, a Landsdale home owned by Pechey’s partner was targeted in a terrifying gun attack. The shooting unfolded about 3am on January 24 when at least two shots were fired through the front of the home. CCTV cameras showed at least one person running from the scene soon afterwards. The gunshots caused damage to a front window and a wall at the home. Pechey all but confirmed the shooting was directed at him and his partner when he took to social media, calling those who shot at the house as “scum”. “Shooting up houses that women and kids live in is not a victory ... scum bag move especially when they no (sic) I’m not even in the country,” he posted on Facebook at the time. Police have since charged Rebels bikie nominee Jordan Brenton Montgomerie, 28, over the shooting. Its understood Mr Montgomerie is a former member of the Rock Machine bikie gang, a club which expelled Pechey about two months ago. Pechey was booted out of the Rock Machine after CCTV footage of him fleeing from two rival bikies went viral in the WA underworld. Pechey had been promoting himself as an enforcer with the Rock Machine, posting images of himself pointing a pistol at a camera while wearing the club’s patch. But a recent post on the Rock Machine’s Facebook page stated he was no longer a member. “Brett Peachy (sic) is not a member of our club and is in bad standing since December 25th,” the gang’s Facebook post on January 3 read, adding: “Perth chapter has new leadership and does not recognise Brett Peachy.” The statement was issued less than a month after Pechey was seen running from two members of the Mongols gang after a shopping centre altercation. Earlier this month The West reported how Pechey had started selling some of his bikie gang attire on Facebook Marketplace. Pechey used the advertisement to badmouth senior Rock Machine leaders, including a man who purported to be the gang’s world president. The Rock Machine was Pechey’s third outlaw motorcycle gang, having first risen to prominence as sergeant-at-arms of Brisbane’s West End Bandidos chapter. That gang became notorious in 2013 for its central role in a huge fight on the Gold Coast that became known as the Broadbeach brawl. Pechey was considered Queensland’s most wanted man when he fled to Thailand after the brawl. When he turned to the Sunshine State 15 months later he was sporting B4L tattoos on his legs, signalling his allegiance to the Middle East-dominated Brothers For Life gang.
