Urgent recall issued for Pop & Surprise Playset sold at Kmart and Target

An urgent recall order has been issued for a popular toy sold at Kmart and Target stores around Australia and online.
Consumers have been told to stop using the Pop & Surprise Playset immediately and keep it out of reach of children.
The ACCC has warned small screws may separate from the toy and become a choking hazard.
“There is a risk of serious injury or death by choking if small parts separate from the toy and a child places them in their mouth. Incidents have occurred,” an ACCC notice about the toy reads.
The recall for the Vietnam-made toy, affects batch number 20/25, sold between January 16, 2020 and November 7, 2025. The batch number can be found on the bottom of the toy.
The toy should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
“Contact the place of purchase if you are unable to return the product or have sold or gifted it to another person.”

The recall has drawn concern from some parents on social media, with one noting: “looks like we are throwing the kids fav toy out ahaha”
And another who commented, “might be easier telling us which toys aren’t recalled at this stage”.
The recall comes after widespread school closures this week sparked by an asbestos scare linked to play sand products.
More than 70 ACT schools were closed on Monday for decontamination after testing detected traces of asbestos in play sand products.
At least five NZ schools were shut down after using the affected sand products with more than 100 contacting the government seeking advice.
